Applied Engineering Technology:
Learning Activities

The Learning Activities are the actual tasks that the student does to learn the material and master the competency.

These activities may include items such as:

  • readings in a text book
  • information sheets
  • practice activities
  • videotapes
  • computer-based exercises
  • problem solving tasks
  • internet activities
  • practice with equipment
  • visits to local industries

The student works through the activities at his own pace.  The student may choose to repeat an activity to gain a better grasp of the material.  The student may also skip activities that cover material with which he is already familiar.

In general, the Learning Activities are not graded by the Instructor.

The checklist in the Study Guide presents the activities in the suggested order that the student should complete them.  Alternate activities on the same topic are often provided.  This allows the student to choose the activity that works best for them.

The Instructor is available in the Lab to work with students in completing these activities.
