Applied Engineering Technology: These classes are in an individualized learning format. In general, there are no lectures or scheduled meetings. The student progresses through the course at their own rate by independently completing a variety of activities in a study guide and then taking an assessment (or test) on that material. There is a learning lab for the student to utilize in completing the course. A course must be completed within one semester's time - 16 weeks.
Study Guide The Study Guide is the student’s “road map” through the course. There is a separate Study Guide for each course. The Study Guide is purchased from the Gateway bookstore.
Learning Plans Each course is separated into a number of discrete sections or units called Learning Plans. The student has completed the course when all the Learning Plans are finished.
Learning Activities Within each Learning Plan are a series of Learning Activities. These are the actual tasks that the student does to learn the material.
Learning Lab The learning lab is a place on the Racine Campus to complete the Learning Activities. Many of the activities can also be accomplished away from the campus. In the lab the student can collaborate with other students and get assistance from the instructor.
Assessment The student takes a test upon completion of each Learning Plan. There are no final examinations.
Course Administration Registration, attendance and grading procedures are described in greater detail in this section of this site. |
