RoboCamp 2005 The Legos RoboCamp was held July 18th through the 20th. During this week long camp, 23 middle school children designed and built autonomous Lego robots. The robots were in the form of vehicles and insects. The group explored different drive train and propulsion systems. The students utilized sensors to detect touch, proximity to other objects and light. Through the use of the Robolab programming language, the students were able to demonstrate control of their robots. Throughout the week, different engineering fields and careers were discussed as they related to the tasks the students were involved in. On the final day of the camp, the students were given a “Challenge” for their robots. The students spent two hours writing their programs and then the friendly competition has held. After seeing how well each student designed, built, and programmed their robot, all of them were winners.
