Computers in Graphic Design
Computers are the tool of choice in Graphic Design today. Students often ask if they should purchase a computer for use at home while enrolled in the Design program. It is not a requirement, but it will give you the flexibility of spending time at home doing homework, as opposed to the computer lab at Gateway.

Most people in the Graphic Design field use Macintoch computers. People spend lots of time arguing over Mac vs. PC computers, but the argument is almost irrelevant, and a matter of personal preference. We use Macintosh computers in our labs at Gateway because that is what is being used in industry. Many students find that they can use a PC/non-Mac computer at home with great success as long as they purchase the same software that is used in the lab. There are a few bugs involving the transfer of files, but most problems can be worked through and present a great learning experience.
