How to Log in to Blackboard:

1. Open your browser (Internet Explorer 6.0 or better or Firefox 2.0 or better).

2. Type in Gateway's URL www.gtc.edu to access Gateway's website and click on the Blackboard icon located toward the bottom of the page.

3. Click the "Login" button.

4. Type in your Username (your 7 digit Student ID number).

5. Tab to the Password box and type in your password which is the last 3 digits of your Student ID number (unless you have already used Blackboard and you have changed your password).

6. Click the "Login" button or press the Enter key on your keyboard.

7. You should see a message that says, "Welcome," followed by your first name. If you do not, please contact Distance Learning Services at distancelearning@gtc.edu.

8. Locate the "My Courses" box and click on the course you are trying to access.

How to Change Your Password in Blackboard:

1. Once you have logged in, click on the "Personal Information" link in the "Tools" box on the left hand side of the screen. This left-side box may also be called "Student Tools" or "User Tools" depending on where you are in Blackboard.

2. Click the "Change Password" option and follow the screen prompts. Remember to write your password down and keep it in a safe place. Instructors do not have access to your password once you change it.

How to Change Your E-Mail Address in Blackboard:

To change your e-mail address in Blackboard, please e-mail your new address to your instructor. The instructor will forward this information to the appropriate people to update the information in Blackboard and in the Registration system.
