WebVPN – Student Upload Server
Spring 2008 Semester
Students can use the webvpn client to securely upload course files to Gateway storage servers. This documentation will require that you have the following information:
· Your Gateway supplied e-mail address and password
· Your Student ID number
This information is printed on your Student Schedule. You will need to enter this information as you proceed with this document.
Please use Internet Explorer or Firefox on Windows or
Safari on Mac OSX for the WebVPN.
1.
From outside of Gateway go to https://vpn-home.gtc.edu
From inside of Gateway go to https://vpn-school.gtc.edu
2. Enter your Gateway-supplied email username, password, and group.
Username: Your e-mail username is the 7
digit number in front of your Gateway supplied e-mail address (ex: if
your e-mail address is 1234567@mail.gtc.edu,
your
username is 1234567)
Password:
Your default password is the last three digits of your student id unless
you’ve
changed it.
Group: Select students from the drop down box.
Click Login.
3. After you have logged in, you will see a screen similar to the picture below. Click the Address popdown and select ftp://

5. Fill in the name of
Gateway’s FTP Server in the address bar:
cfs.gtc.edu and
click the Browse button. You should see the following screen:

6. Login to the student storage server using your Student ID and password (this will be different than the first login) and click Submit.
Username: 7-digit
Student ID number
Password: <last
3 digits of the Student ID number>

7. Once logged in, you should a webpage similar to the following. A variety of tools are available to assist you in managing your storage space. These tools perform tasks such as making new folders, deleting files, copying files, uploading files, etc…

A progress bar (located in the lower corner of the window) is
also available on most browsers when uploading large files to Gateway. Note: Some web
browsers do not support the progress bar.

8. Now click on the New Folder icon, you should get a popup box, inside that box enter the name of the new folder that you want to create. Click OK

9. Click in the newly created folder to go inside. Now you want to locate your movie file and upload it. Click on the Upload icon. You should get a popup box, click on Browse and locate your movie. Highlight it and click Open. You now should have your movie file uploaded to the server.

End Notes: After you’ve completed your work, be sure to end your session by clicking the logout button in the upper right corner of the webpage.
