District-wide Student Design Show
The 13th annual Student Design Show was held in the Racine Campus Library, from April 19–29th, 2010. The show rotates each spring between the Elkhorn and Racine campuses, and features the design work of students from across Kenosha, Racine, and Walworth counties.
This year's evening reception and award ceremony was held on April 20th in the Racine Campus Library. The evening also included live classical music and a fully catered buffet. The show judges (volunteer professionals from area businesses and industry) selected the winners in each category.
Show Identity
Each year, the student design show’s promotional 'look' is selected from submissions by graphic communications program students across the district. This year, Racine's David Jaramillo created the winning identity. David’s design was used on all of the promotional items for the show (the posters, mailer, web, t-shirts, certificates, and fabricated awards).
Awards
This years distictive, 'industrial-chic' awards were fabricated by GTC welder-artist Instructor Mark Uttech. The plasma cut metals were also torch tempered and treated to provide the metal's unique rainbow patina. The stonework bases were created by Kenosha's Jeff Dickow.
Shirts and certificates for the Honorable Mention Award in Each category were fabricated by Instructor John Mizer and his students.
Thanks
The entire Graphic Communications faculty at GTC would like to thank everyone who helped to make the show a success!
